Oktrollberfest is upon us again already! The annual game jam ran by WiL and kkairos to create troll games, ZZT encouraged, but not required. This year one dozen submissions were received, and folks, we are off to quite a start. You can check out the submissions for yourselves at https://itch.io/jam/oktrollberfest-2023/entries where there are a number of non-ZZT submissions that aren't available on the Museum of ZZT.

The first entry I subjected myself to was the latest Samantha Arantes game by RT-55J who has used the space bounty hunter in a number of previous entries. They're always been great to see each year, though this year was really something else. This time Samantha is without her power suit (stuck at the cleaners) and needs to earn some money by picking up gigs. What begins with a cute little sign flipping game to direct traffic snowballs into more wild premises including dressing up as a monster and scaring kids, scrubbing persistent graffiti out of a swimming pool, recycling sliders, and more.

All of this is accompanied with RT's signature expressive art, with a lot of impressive angles and details seen throughout. Visually, this is easily the best one yet, and the various engines implemented here are equally impressive. Plus an ending you won't see coming!

Secondly, DeadPhrog presents ZZTorture, a short and surreal world aiming to replicate the "My First ZZT game" vibe which it also does to great effect. Yes, there are yellow borders, but beyond that are some giant skeletal parts and a rather distracting centipede seemingly hand placed to break my brain. Extra keys, giant toilets, and labels everywhere make this one a potential perfect fit for the typical Sunday streams of unpreserved ZZT worlds. If you told me this was published on AOL in 1995 by an unknown author, I'd 100% believe you.
