A non-platforming based Graham Peet game. The tyrant Rork is attacking the kingdom, Tred is the only one who can save the day, yadda yadda yadda, your crush has been kidnapped, and it won't be long until your village is burned down. Your usual fantasy adventure motivations. Peet of course knows how to make things feel special, from the treasure chest keys, to the ability to light fires with matches that make your rest to restore health more fruitful. All of this set atop a pretty massive world to explore in any direction you choose, as you help those in need, and conquer various dungeons at behest of the king.
Big in scope and big in charm this one has been a winner so far, only suffering a bit from limited ammo early on and some confusion with the game's keys that have me constantly worried I'm going to open the wrong door and break things apart.
In this first episode we tour most of the eastern half of the world, struggling to find the castle (which sure enough is like two boards south of the starting board), then conquering a forest filled with blink walls, sliders, and spinning guns to meet a witch who gives us a powerful spell. This one is sure to click with fans of Fred 2 (is that why the protagonist is named Tred?), Sivion, the Adventure series, and other classic styled adventures in medieval environments.
