Livestream - 33 Ways to Die

I'm sorry I'm just remembering that old "Dumb Ways to Die" video. That's what this game is.

Not one. Not two. But thirty-three ways to die in this brief comedy world by HAZARD.

It really is exactly as the title says. A ZZT game where the goal is to die in as many ways as possible entirely for your amusement. I thought it would be a fitting game for a Friday the 13th stream.

Sure enough, it's not so bad, starting like some anti-Code Red where you explore your apartment and die to all sorts of things, some expected, and some less so. You know, eating a rotten sandwich, smashing your head through the TV, but also being eaten alive by bugs in your closet or breathing in the apparently carbon monoxide loaded air outside your window.

After a fittingly harrowing descent down the stairs to the ground floor, Jim's world opens up a little with a small map of the city and a scant few locations to check out and die in. The lobby of his apartment (with a restaurant and gangster problem), the seemingly idyllic park, and the toxic waste dump.

There's some fun to be had in trying to find all 33, though the lack of any numbering makes it hard to be confident if every #endgame is the same or not. If a gangster asks if you'd prefer to be shot or stabbed after you draw his ire, is that one way to die or two? Is falling down the stairs from outside your apartment different than falling down the stairs in the dedicated stairwell board?

In the end though, we wound up with a list of 33, with a good chunk of them found through just poking around the world, with the remainder requiring some code diving. A fun diversion that's probably going to get at least one laugh, if not thirty three.
